The Sweetest Thing

Tonight during tubby time Claire looked up at me and said “I love your haircup (hair cut).” I said “Thank you!” Then she told me, “It’s so beautiful.” “Well thank you!” I said almost laughing because she was being so adorable. Then she put it over the top, chirping, “you’re very welcome!” I swear she is the sweetest thing in the world.  IMG_1851

Visitors

We were so happy to have my mom, Grandma Carol and Aunt Anne come visit us for five days! They came over the 4th of July to celebrate the holiday in our new house. They had so much fun with Claire, seeing all her favorite things to do, her toys, her room, her routines. They adore her.

Glow worm

Ever since she started sleeping in her crib, Claire has had her glow worm by her side. Tucked into the front left corner of the crib, she pushes it’s glowing tummy every night as she drifts off to sleep. Sometimes she pushes it on in the middle of the night if she wakes up and I can hear a little “ode to joy” come through on the baby monitor. She just did that tonight at 11pm and it made me smile. I will miss that little tune and that funny looking toy when she grows out of it.

Favorite things

Claire talks to me all day long. She says short sentences now, like a real little person. Some of my favorites are:
“It’s so cute!” As she points to any furry animal and makes a sweet little “O” face.
“It’s cool.” To most anything.
“Don’t worry mommy, it’s ok.” Always with such surety. So sweet.
“It’s tricky.” This one she learned from therapy with Tanya. I love this phrase instead of “its hard.” Claire keeps things positive.

Some of Claire’s favorite things right now are her Curious George book (120 pages hard-bound and she must sleep with it every night), watching Tumble Leaf at every possible opportunity, riding on daddy’s shoulders, listening to Katy Perry, watching Taylor Swifts shake it off video, running to the window to watch the garbage truck, and exploring her newfound love of painting. Considering her sensory issues in the past with anything messy, I am really excited about the painting!
