One of Claire’s favorite toys right now is her china tea set from aunt Lindsey. I didn’t think she would possibly be interested when I got it out for her, but now she hasn’t let me put it away for two weeks. It isn’t the safest toy for a toddler and I’m always afraid she’s going to break it (she’s only chipped the creamer so far) but she just loves it. And I love seeing her imagination beginning to show! She actually pretends to pour and drink tea, and she shares cups with Mr. Bear and baby. So cute.
Today Claire counted to ten all by herself, right out of nowhere. A few of the numbers were a little hard to recognize, but there were definitely ten! I was blown away. She is so smart.
We also got some kazoos for Halloween and Claire loves playing them. She is a little musician!
This last month of summer has been a busy time for Claire! She has been doing and seeing so many new things.
These says she is all about exploring and testing her limits. She is always surprising me with new things she can do. Her walking has gotten so much better and now she is working on more tricky things like kicking, jumping and walking stairs. Her favorite thing is going to the park. There she puts all her new physical skills to the test, climbing up to the top of every playground and going down slides all by herself. We went to the fair last week and Claire went on a few rides, including one all by herself that spun around and went up and down. She seemed scared but didn’t hesitate to take it on. I was so proud of my tiny brave girl!
She says her first real sentence now, “I see you!” She also loves to go around the dinner table saying everyone’s names. “Mommy, daddy, and Claire.”
Her favorite tv shows are Daniel Tiger, Peg +Cat, and Curious George.
This has been a hectic summer and it’s high time I update the blog with some of Claire’s latest developments.
We went to Utah again at the end of July for a week long visit just to hang with my family. We packed in a ton of activities. Claire was a good little trooper and went with less sleep than usual. Since the trip I’ve been doing a lot of photo work and Claire has been spending quite a bit of time with Grandma Sandy, which she always loves and which always wears her out!
Claire’s walking has gotten so much better in the last couple months! She has really taken off. She can handle rough terrain now like the rocky beach at Ruston Way and the big hill at grandma Sandys house. She loves to go go go! She is on her second pair of support braces for her pronating ankles, and they seem to help. It’s been a fun summer to see her take explore so much. She is still very brave at the park and will go down any slide all by herself, and loves to be pushed high on the swings.
Anyone who spends time with Claire these days always remarks on how much she is talking! She is constantly spouting off what sound like full sentences, although we can’t really figure out what she is trying to say. But more and more words are coming through clearly. She is staring to figure out how to use “on” and “off”, “up” and “down” and other abstract concepts like “hot.” Her favorite color is purple, and i love hearing her say that word! I still think her favorite word is “mommy.” She sings a little mommy song that makes me smile; it’s so cute. She also thinks every picture of a long haired female is a “mommy.” When we go to Starbucks she has a blast pointing at all the Starbucks logos and saying “mommy!”
I may be presumptive but I think Claire can already count to ten (with a little help of course)! She loves to count along with me and thinks its a fun game. She is also staring to get a handle on the ABCs. She seems to love learning this stuff, so let’s keep that rolling!
