Sporting overalls and a new shirt!
So big!
So much has been going on the last few weeks, I feel bad I haven’t kept up! But I will try to remember all the cool things Claire has been up to.
She had her 9 month appointment at 40 weeks. Here are her stats:
Height: 27 inches, 30th percentile
Weight: 15.5 lbs, 4th percentile
Head: 17.8 inches, 80th percentile
This appointment came just a few days after Claire had been sick, so I think that’s why her weight was so low! Thankfully I can tell she has plumped up the last few weeks. She is still a skinny little mini!
When I told our pediatrician that Claire is not crawling and doesn’t put much weight on her legs, she recommended we take her to physical therapy. I’ve been a little skeptical about it because I don’t think anything is wrong with Claire; she is making progress, just at her own pace. But I made an appointment anyway and we had our evaluation a couple days ago. It’s a really nice place and the therapist was really helpful. She convinced me that it would be good for Claire’s overall development if we can get her crawling. So we will be doing lots of bending, twisting, balancing and reaching exercises at home together. It will be fun to see what progress we can make by next weeks’ appointment. The therapist thinks that Claire might have a bad association with being on her tummy because of all the spitting up she did in her first few months. Back then I was maniacal about keeping her propped up and on her back all the time. Maybe she missed some crucial tummy-time window and we have to re-wire her a bit!
On other fronts, Claire got her first tooth! We first noticed two tiny little bottom teeth popping out right around her 9-month mark. They still haven’t come all the way up, but they are working on it.
These days Claire loves saying “ma ma” a lot. She will copy me if I say it, and it feels like we are really communicating! She will also shake her head if I say “no no”, and wave her arms when I say “bye-bye!” I think she really wants to talk ASAP– or maybe sing. She loves music. She bounces up and down, makes “ma ma” sounds and brightens up when I play songs for her. Lately I’ve been playing Katy Perry a lot for her (she loved the Katy Perry movie), John Mayer’s Paradise Valley and whatever else I’m in the mood for. I hope she grows up to love music!
And here is Claire at forty-one weeks. Getting better at the side roll/reach.
Ok, playing catch up again. Here is Claire at forty weeks. I love this little outfit.
