This week Claire has started to reach out for ME. She grabs at my mouth, my hair, my hands. It is such a sweet feeling. I love her love!
I never thought I would love having a baby so much. Every little thing in my day is special now.

Claire has changed so much in the last few weeks! I feel a desperate need to document everything. I am not so good at writing things down, so hopefully the slew of photos I take daily will sufficiency help me to remember these times. But I’m forcing myself to write something now, so here is a quick summary what is going on with Claire:
Claire went to her 6-month check up last week. Here are her stats:
Height: 25.75 inches, 50th percentile
Weight: 14lbs, 15th percentile
Head: 75th percentile
Claire is rolling over! She just recently discovered it as a way to get out of dreaded tummy time. If you put her on her tummy now she immediately flips over to her back.
Claire is eating more baby food. She likes bananas, mangoes and peaches. (I even made the peaches myself!) It is fun to see her discover the world of foods, but sad that her poop is starting to be gross.
Claire gets bored more easily now. I think the days of peaceful car rides are mostly over. Claire makes this Velociraptor sound when she wants attention and it makes me want to pull my hair out! I think I need to invest in more stimulating baby toys for her.
Claire is almost sitting up by herself. She can sit up alone for a few seconds before tumbling over. I can tell she really likes sitting up though, and it will be very soon that she can support herself. When she’s sitting she loves to reach out for any random thing like it’s a pot of gold.
Claire isn’t that into cuddling. She seems too interested in watching, touching and tasting the world around her to be held closely. Sometimes she even starts to cry and I can tell that she just wants to lay down and be left alone! Funny baby.
Claire is making really cute noises (besides the Velociraptor scream). It sounds like she is saying, “ga, ga, ga” or “ma, ma ma.” This started out of the blue when we were at Red Mango one night in Utah. I even got it on video.
Claire is the most wonderful baby ever; sometimes my face muscles hurt from smiling at her all day. I see people around with new babies younger than Claire and I am shocked– my Claire is the last, best, most perfect baby! Why would we need any more babies after her??
Claire has been full of funny faces lately. I took these yesterday while taking her weekly update photo. There were so many that I couldn’t live without! Thus, I created a giant montage of Claire’s many expressions.
I know, its a little excessive, but I love every one!
Alison - Look at all of her HAIR! She’s getting so big – you’re doing such a good job, mamma! 🙂
