Eighteen weeks

Claire had her 4-month check up this week. Here are her stats:

Head: 16.5″ , 75%

Height: 24.5″ , 55%

Weight: 12 lbs, 15%

She is a skinny little mini! Claire also got lots of shots at the doctor. She didn’t cry very much at all, but she was cranky and restless for a couple days afterwards. I think she might start to roll over soon, she has been rolling onto her side the last few days. She is also getting really good at holding her head up during tummy time. She loves to explore anything with her hands, including her own knees and toes! Her favorite things are nursing, her binkie, watching TV (to Eric’s chagrin), bouncing in her bouncy chair, chit-chatting on the changing table, and playing with anything that rattles.

Thanks to cousin Scarlett for the cute hand-me-down striped shirt!

Dad - Thanks for the update. She’s cuter by the day

grandma carol - absolutely adorable. thanks for all the updates

Alison - Can’t wait to give this gorgeous baby a big squeeze in a few weeks!! 🙂

Great Grandpa Gordon - She is beautiful and shows a personality. Thanks for the photos.

Baths and other things

Claire loves her bath time. It’s always a good time to take photos. We must have hundreds of bath time photos already!

Here are some bath time photos from March, along with a few other random cute shots.

Seventeen weeks

Claire’s little personality is unfolding day by day. I feel like she is becoming her own little person completely separate from either me or Eric.  All we can do is sit back and watch. (And take care of her, obviously!) Claire has a really sweet demeanor; some have said that there is a calmness about her. Frankly, I could not be more surprised. I expected something much more like her rather intense parents! Perhaps she is just we needed.

This week Claire is FOUR MONTHS old! She is holding her head up now during tummy time, grabbing toys with both hands, getting interested in her feet, and blowing lots of spit bubbles. She thinks blowing spitty bubbles is pretty funny. Now with saliva added on top of the spit-up, the idea of a dry shirt is futile. I call her “slobber chin.”

I love rocking Claire to sleep at night. I will often just sit and rock her for a long time, pondering her perfect little face and thinking deep, eternal, motherly thoughts. Everything feels complete.

Carol Elliott - I think she is bigger than the kitty. What a joy it is to know how much Claire is loved and cared for. I really look forward to her blog updates. She couldn’t be more precious.
Love to you all, Grandma Carol

Sixteen weeks

This has been another big week for Claire. She had her first Easter, and he first visit out to the bee hives at the Kelley Farm. She has also started making lots of adorable squeeky sounds. She reminds me of those little dinosaurs on Jurassic Park, the ones that make the cute chirps and squeals right before they spit venom in your eye! Claire doesn’t spit venom though, just breast milk. The daily screaming sessions have been on the wane, so I think that was just a phase. Claire’s new thing is to wake up two or three times a night instead of sleeping soundly like she used to. I am pretty tired! Eric is sweet to help out in the mornings, playing with Claire at 5:30 AM!

I had my 30th birthday this week, and I am happy to be leaving my 20’s behind. This next decade is going to be so much fun. I can’t wait for all the things we are going to get to do with Claire. She has brought so much happiness to us!
