Ten weeks

Our tiny girl is ten weeks old! Here are the stats from her two month doctor appointment last week:

22.5 inches tall, 9.8 lbs

Head circumference 75%

Height 60%

Weight 25%

Its been a good week to be Claire’s mom. She is talking with me more and more. Mostly she just says “a-goo, a-goo” in between smiles. She is so cute– and looks so much like Eric. She also seems to be getting more coordinated with her hands. She grabs her blanket (or bib) and tries to put it in her mouth. We had a breakthrough night in which Claire slept 8 hours straight! It was amazing. Usually she sleeps 5 or 6 hour stretches, but I am happy that an 8 hour night is possible!

The spitting up is getting a little better, I think, or else I am just adapting to it. We still give her the zantac two or three times a day. She has been a little more fussy this week. I think she might be going through a growth spurt or something. It must be hard to be so small and so out of control of your own body!

Claire loves laying on the little play mat Grandma Sandy gave to her. She is getting really good at kicking the dangling toys. Future soccer player? She also loves looking at the colorful lights and the mirror. It is really cool to see her coming alive and interacting with the world around her.

I think I bought a size too big. Too bad it will be summer by the time it fits.

Nine weeks

Note Honey’s presence in this photo. She is always underfoot!

Claire is becoming more and more interactive with the world around her. When she is awake, her head is like a little swivel; she is constantly trying to look at everything going on around her. She turns so much she is rubbing the hair off the back of her head! We set up a little play mat with dangling toys, lights and music. I was surprised to see that she actually liked it. She watches the little monkeys spin around and even kicks at the toys. She is starting to get more coordination in her arms and hands, and is starting to suck on her fingers whenever the binky isn’t around. It is amazing to see her becoming a real human being instead of just a cute little grub.

On the sleep front, this week we started having Claire sleep all by herself in her room. Up until now she has been sleeping next to us in her Side Sleeper. At first I was a little sentimental about it, but quickly realized the advantages of having a little alone time! I am sleeping much better now, and Claire seems to be on a roll, sleeping 6 hour stretches most nights! Eric got our webcam set up in Claire’s room, so we can watch her on our iphones or ipad. Its pretty cool.

Claire loves to smile and talk with me. Her little baby sounds are so adorable. I think she will start laughing soon– sometimes she smiles with her whole body, squirming and kicking. That first laugh will be a cool moment!

The reflux is still an issue, and I am still constantly covered in spit up. But I think she is still growing really fast and seems to be OK. We have Claire’s two month check up in a couple days and I can’t wait to see how much she’s progressed.

Alison - I love her little headband! 🙂 What a sweetie.

We shot these photos the last week of January while we were on our visit to Utah. The Jordan River made for a pretty backdrop on a sunny winter day! I am so glad we were able to get all four of us together!
